To realize the goal of Effective and Efficient Public Service (E), a key enabler of the CHED ACHIEVE Agenda, the Commission on Higher Education-Cordillera Administrative Region (CHED-CAR) teamed up with the DICT-CAR and UniFAST-CAR in the conduct of a two-day capacity-building training.
Held on October 8, 2025, and October 17, 2025 , the training on Cybersecurity Awareness, DICT PNPKI, and Connectivity aimed to capacitate employees of both CHED-CAR and UniFAST-CAR with ICT awareness, new technology, and DICT services to streamline regional operations and enhance service delivery.
Training Focuses on New Digital Tools
The activity was conducted to capacitate CHED-CAR employees on cyber awareness and key DICT services. CHED-CAR Director Jimmy G. Catanes spearheaded the main activity. In his message, Director Catanes confirmed the training’s timeliness and relevance, stating that it is aligned with the need to equip personnel with new tools for the future and ensure alignment with technology advancements.
The resource persons were experts from DICT-CAR, who shared their expertise in the said activity through the leadership of Regional Director Jimmicio Daoaten, along with other partner agencies.
Day 1: Digital Identity and Connectivity Services
The first day, October 8, 2025, concentrated on establishing digital identity and connectivity:
- The Philippine National Public Key Infrastructure (PNPKI) was presented by Ms. Frauline Bentayon, Planning Officer II, and Mr. Edgar Allen Apalla, Planning Assistant I.
- The eGov Super App was discussed by Mr. Lyndon Cabacungan, Project Development Officer I.
- Orientation on Free Wi-Fi was provided by Engr. Pamela Galut, Engineer III.
A practical workshop was conducted where all participants applied for the e-signature, facilitated by the DICT-CAR staff. This application promotes greater digital efficiency in government operations.
Day 2: Cybersecurity and Information Hygiene
The second day, October 17, 2025, focused on information security and protection:
- Cybersecurity Awareness, Cyber Hygiene, and Website Hosting was the topic presented by Mr. Frankxen John F. Pinzon, Information Systems Researcher II.
On both training days, a Q & A Segment followed the presentations. This allowed CHED-CAR and UniFAST-CAR employees the opportunity to inquire about DICT services and other related Information and Communications Technology (ICT) matters, receiving detailed clarifications from the resource persons.
