In a groundbreaking achievement, nine Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) from the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) have secured spots in the esteemed Global Top Innovative Universities Ranking 2023, according to the World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI). This remarkable feat not only highlights the region’s commitment to excellence in education but also positions CAR as a thriving hub of innovation and intellectual prowess.

Out of the 51 HEIs from the Philippines that earned their place in the ranking, 18% are from CAR. These institutions have proven their dedication to pushing boundaries, fostering innovation, and nurturing an environment conducive to academic excellence.

This significant accomplishment closely aligns with the 10-point Agenda of the Commission on Higher Education in CAR (CHED-CAR) coined by Dr. Demetrio P. Anduyan Jr. (CHED-CAR Director), which aims to lead HEIs in the region towards quality and excellence. Furthermore, it reinforces the impact of the FLAIR Masterclass, a transformative event that took place from June 28th to 30th, 2022. Spearheaded by Dr. Jimmy G. Catanes of CHED-CAR in partnership with the International Affairs Staff(IAS) office of CHED Central, the FLAIR “Kuminwani” Masterclass aimed to enhance the international reputation and visibility of CAR HEIs.

CHED-CAR enthusiastically celebrates this extraordinary achievement, as it serves as a resounding testimony to the global readiness and competitiveness of the HEIs in CAR. This recognition not only elevates the region’s standing in the field of higher education but also highlights the collective efforts of faculty, administrators, and students in shaping the future of education.
