In line with the objectives of the Philippine Creative Industries Act, the Commission on Higher Education and Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) from across Northern Luzon gathered for the Zonal Creativity Summit 2024 on October 17-18, 2024, at the University of Baguio.

The event, organized in honor of Philippine Creative Industries Month, showcased the region’s creativities through an exciting lineup of exhibitions(Hugpungan), workshops, and creative activities(Habian sa Hapagkainan).

Participated in by more than 400 students and HEI representatives, the summit was made possible through the efforts of the CHED Office of Program and Standards Development (OPSD), in partnership with CHED-Cordillera Administrative Region (CHED-CAR) and the University of Baguio. Together, these institutions highlighted the critical role of HEIs in fostering creativity and innovation, emphasizing that all activities led by HEIs contribute to the flourishing of the country’s creative industries.

Hugpungan: Exhibits Showcasing Regional Creativity

The event featured exhibitions from HEIs, showcasing an impressive range of creative outputs, from visual arts, multimedia projects, and fashion designs, to culinary innovations and artisanal crafts. Each institution proudly displayed the unique talents of its students and faculty, reflecting the diversity and richness of creativity thriving within Northern Luzon.

One of the summit’s highlights was the interactive exhibits, where participants had the opportunity to engage with artists and creators. This immersive experience not only celebrated regional creativity but also provided a platform for networking and collaboration among students, educators, and industry professionals.

Workshops to Hone Creative Skills

Alongside the exhibits, the summit offered hands-on creative workshops, where attendees explored and refined their skills in various creative disciplines. These workshops covered a broad range of topics, including design thinking, digital media production, storytelling, and entrepreneurship in the creative industry. Led by experts in their respective fields, the sessions aimed to equip participants with the practical knowledge and tools necessary to thrive in today’s dynamic creative landscape.

Habian sa Hapagkainan:

The two-day event also emphasized the significance of indigenous cuisines and native cultures. The Habian sa Hapagkainan allowed students and HEIs to showcase their talents derived from their traditional roots.
