To recognize and celebrate the remarkable contributions of teachers in shaping a brighter future through education and in line with the National Teachers Month, the Benguet Provincial Local Government Unit has initiated an annual activity of the Benguet Higher Education Teachers in partnerhsip with the Commission on Higher Education – CAR.
With the theme “Together4Teachers,” Benguet State University commenced with the series of events earlier this week. Among the notable highlights was a Seminar on Writing Research for Publication, and Talent Contest which took place on September 22, 2023.
Hosted by BSU, the event began with a formal welcome address delivered by the University President, Dr. Felipe Comilla. This was followed by a message from the office of the Governor, Hon. Melchor Diclas, which was delivered on behalf of the Governor by Ms. Rachel Cariño, a member of the staff from the Benguet Provincial office.
Through the generous support from the Office of the Governor, Hon. Melchor Diclas, all higher education institutions (HEIs) in Benguet were able to come together through their representatives and participants. These institutions include Cordillera Career Development College ( Cordillera College (CCDC) ), King’s College of The Philippines (KCP), Star Colleges Inc. (SCI), Philippine College of Ministry (PCM), Philippine Nazarene College (PNC), Benguet State University and BVS Colleges.
During the research seminar, Dr. Jimmy Guisdan Catanes, Education Supervisor II of CHED-CAR, delivered an engaging and informative talk as the Guest Speaker. He expertly delved into various topics, including:

Dr. Catanes highlighted on the Internationalization aspect of Research and Online visibility factors of an HEI. “The international visibility of Higher Education Institutions through research is essential for fostering global collaboration, knowledge exchange, and innovation on a scale that can address complex global challenges and elevate academic excellence to new heights” he said. He also added that research is not just about individual gain, but a vital contribution to the body of knowledge.
The Friday session also incorporated a Talent segment competition, where faculty and staff from various HEIs demonstrated their abilities, skillfully blending them with elements of Benguet Culture and tradition.
The said event was made smooth through the facilitation of Dr. Dolores E. Alawas of BSU, Dr. Rosaria M. Pis-oyen from CCDC, Dr. Divina Yango of BSU, and Dr. Angeline Bugtong of KCP.
Among the supporters who attended the event last Friday and served as judges during the talent portion were the Education Supervisors of CHED-CAR, Ms. Christine Soriano and Ms. Melody Labawig. CHEd Staff, Mr. Steven Jan Belgica, and Mr. Francis Lousi Likigan from the office of Benguet PLGU, also attended on Behalf of Governor Diclas.
