In recognition of his remarkable achievements in the field of education and research, Dr. Jimmy G. Catanes, the Education Supervisor I of the Commission on Higher Education-Cordillera Administrative Region (CHED-CAR), received a prestigious Special “Kayabang” award during the 73rd Foundation Day of the Municipality of La Trinidad.
Dr. Catanes was nominated by five prominent leaders from different Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in the CAR, highlighting the impact he has contributed to the HEIs in CAR. Among the six recipients of the Special Kayabang Award, Dr. Catanes stood out as the only individual with five nominations, a testament to his outstanding contributions in the realm of education and research.
The other distinguished awardees of the Special Kayabang category included Kurt Ludan Lubrica and Denesia Apote Esnara in the Sports category, Charles A. Awidan in the Education category, Lt. Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr. and General Lambert P. Suerte in the Public Service category.
Additionally, the 2023 awards ceremony in La Trinidad also recognized individuals and organizations with the Special Recognition Award. The recipients in this category were the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology La Trinidad, Police Brigadier General Paul, Kenneth Tuhay Lucas, General Rudolph Botengan Dimas, Rigelle P. Lando in the Public Service category, and Charlito Cognoden in the Human Integrity category.
Dr. Catanes, as the Project Leader of “KABADANG Research Publication Mentoring” and F.L.A.I.R Masterclass, has been instrumental in driving initiatives for the Commission on Higher Education-Cordillera Administrative Region (CHED-CAR). The KABADANG project, designed to aid and mentor researchers towards publication, primarily targets Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) staff. Its objective is to encourage the development and advancement of HEI faculty, fostering a culture of research and scholarly output.
The F.L.A.I.R KUMINWANI (Filipino Leaders in Advancing International Reputations) Masterclass focuses on enhancing the international rankings of HEIs in the Philippines, specifically within the Cordillera Administrative Region. With the vision of elevating CAR HEIs to a position of prominence in international academia, the Commission on Higher Education-CAR has spearheaded this initiative.
Dr. Jimmy G. Catanes’ receipt of the Special “Kayabang” award serves as a testament to his dedication and significant contributions to the field of education and research.
