A Memorandum of Agreement Signing was held between the Commission on Higher Education – Cordillera Administrative Region (represented by OIC Dir. Danilo B. Bose and Permanent Alternate Focal Person for K to 12 Transition Program Dr. Mariano D. Marchan Jr.) and three (3) Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in Benguet province on January 28, 2021. The MOA stated partnership between CHED-CAR and Saint Louis University (represented by Dr. Jeffrey Centeno), University of Baguio (represented by Dr. Janice Kaylyn K. Lonogan), and University of the Cordilleras (represented by Dr. Nancy M. Flores) to be delivering HEIs for the Scholarships for Instructor’s Knowledge Advancement Program (SIKAP) Grants.
In his message, OIC Dir. Bose emphasized that the SIKAP Grant is a better and more improved version of the Scholarship for Graduate Studies. Despite the global pandemic that has been brought about by CoViD-19, the government, particularly the Commission on Higher Education, is looking for more ways to assist instructors in Higher Education in their endeavor to pursue their advanced studies.
As part of the ceremonial signing, representatives from the 3 delivering HEIs were also given the chance to give their appreciation and gratitude to the Regional Office and for the said Grant.
The Scholarships for Instructors’ Knowledge Advancement Program (SIKAP) Grant is in line with the provisions of Republic Act No. 7722 otherwise known as the Higher Education Act of 1994 which provides opportunities for Higher Education Institution (HEI) teaching personnel, or former HEI teaching personnel seeking advanced studies in identified universities and colleges in the Philippines.
